Presenting digitised art and cultural objects on the internet - but how? Best practice examples from the application of IIIF technology
With the IIIF standard, a globally recognised technology has been established in recent years that makes it possible to publish digitised objects in a very convenient and technically interoperable way. Major museums, libraries and other cultural institutions have jointly developed the standard. Countless institutions have now made extensive collections IIIF-compatible, including important manuscripts, paintings, drawings and other cultural objects. IIIF is an open standard that can be used under Creative Commons licence. In addition, a large number of excellent software is available as open source software.
Together with the IIIF Community, Leipzig University Library is organising an IIIF Outreach Event for the second time at MUTEC - the international trade fair for museum and exhibition technology in Leipzig on 24 November 2022 from 10am to 5pm. Representatives of major museums and libraries will report on their projects and experiences with IIIF and will be available for professional exchange.
