Ready for the Future – Climate Adaptation in Museums.

The pilot project, initiated by the State Office for Museums in Baden-Württemberg and carried out by the think-and-do tank adelphi in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP, supported six museums in developing their climate adaptation strategies. Over the course of the project, the team of experts empowered the museums - two open-air museums and four inner-city institutions - to analyze their own facilities and identify appropriate climate adaptation measures using provided worksheets and technical input. The methodology selected for the project, as well as the worksheets distributed to the museums, were published by the State Office for Museums in early November and are now freely available. The presentation will highlight both the pilot project and the recently published methodology.

Participants included the German Butchers’ Museum in collaboration with the Böblingen Peasants’ War Museum (as a joint effort), the Neuhausen op Eck Open-Air Museum, the Vogtsbauernhof Gutach Open-Air Museum, the Pforzheim Gallery, the Kurpfälzisches Museum in Heidelberg, and the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen.
