Seven Questions to… SECUTIX

We continue our “7 Questions to..” series with SECUTIX, a leading global ticketing provider. The company helps museums, cultural institutions and venues around the world manage visitor engagement, ticket sales and access control through an all-in-one ticketing platform. We spoke with Norbert Stockmann, European Culture Lead SECUTIX, who'll be running a session at MUTEC on “How museums can use ticketing to digitally evolve - or risk cultural irrelevance”.

1) What makes an exhibition memorable?

In terms of content:

  • Relevance to current social issues or topics
  • Interactivity and visitor engagement
  • Rare, authentic or previously unseen exhibits.
  • The use of new technologies or unusual concepts.
  • Visitors should not only learn something, but also experience and remember it.

From a technical point of view: Ease. Smooth access, shorter queues, digital ticketing - removing friction lets visitors focus on the experience.

2) Which product or service will you be presenting at MUTEC?

SECUTIX is an all-in-one ticketing platform providing better intelligence, distribution, ticket products, and access. In addition, SECUTIX offers solutions for customer loyalty, visitor engagement and payment. There is also a strong focus on mobile applications.

3) Which exhibition or museum has truly moved you?

There are too many to name! The last exhibition I visited, and the one that really made an impression on me, was the “Joseph Beuys – Works from the Nationalgalerie Collection” in Berlin at Hamburger Bahnhof.

4) AI — tool or risk?

A great tool when leveraged well. AI presents a transformational opportunity for museums—making them more interactive, inclusive, and globally accessible. However, without thoughtful implementation, it can undermine trust, authenticity, and ethical responsibility. For sure AI will increase the visitor experience, particularly for the younger, digital native audience.

5) Why?

It helps museums analyse data and the use of modern technologies in combination with AI (smart guides, chatbots, augmented reality, etc.) ensures a highly personalised, memorable visitor experience.

AI also helps make museums more inclusive: real-time translation tools, voice assistants and image recognition support visitors with disabilities (e.g., visually impaired users).

6) What has been your most challenging project?

Each client has their own unique needs. Addressing their specific requirements together is always a rewarding challenge. However, SECUTIX had the privilege of supporting a major Swiss company in the construction of an Experience World even before the ground-breaking ceremony, enabling us to contribute our expertise and solutions right from the start. We implemented sophisticated, customised access control systems, established extensive integrations and interfaces with third-party partners, designed a guide communication tool and provided services that went far beyond ‘simple’ ticketing in many areas.

7) Why MUTEC?

It’s a great place to meet forward-thinking museums, the kind of institutions that honour heritage while embracing what's next. We see MUTEC as a place where we will meet interested customers who are tackling the technological challenges of our time and are looking for digital ticketing solutions that enable them to better understand and reach their visitors, and ultimately to become more successful in business.
