MUTEC and its success stories: Giant Monkey on the importance of its trade fair appearance
As the only remaining museum trade fair in the German-speaking world, MUTEC is a fixed date in the calendars of numerous companies that support museums and cultural institutions with innovative solutions. MUTEC has also been of central importance for Giant Monkey GmbH, a company specializing in software for museums, for many years.
Behind the scenes at MUTEC, collaborations, projects, and innovations are taking shape. In our new section, we show how exhibitors are using MUTEC—and what paths are opening up as a result. We will be presenting some of these stories here gradually.
As the only remaining museum trade fair in the German-speaking world, MUTEC is a fixture in the calendars of numerous companies that support museums and cultural institutions with innovative solutions. MUTEC has also been of central importance for Giant Monkey GmbH, a company specializing in software for museums, for many years.
“For us, MUTEC is above all a platform for showing our presence,” explains Florian Rogge, sales manager at Giant Monkeys. “Museums see that we are still here and are bringing new references and the latest developments with us.”
This is because in Giant Monkey's field of business, the chances of direct orders resulting from trade fair discussions are low. Around 90 percent of clients come from the public sector and work with complex procurement procedures. Nevertheless, personal encounters at MUTEC are valuable for the company: they serve to maintain contacts with well-known museums and build trust with new prospects. “Our solutions are too complex to be turned into an offer at a trade fair. It's about arousing interest, demonstrating competence, and sending a signal to the market,” says Rogge.
The accompanying program of specialist events is also particularly appreciated: “MUTEC sets standards with its forum and presentations. This clearly sets it apart from previous formats such as Exponatec.” Giant Monkey GmbH regularly participates with its own contributions. Florian Rogge spoke on topics such as the evaluation of visitor data with business intelligence solutions, digitization through the integration of cash register and ticketing systems, and “Back to the Museum.”
This is how MUTEC creates success stories that have an impact far beyond the actual trade fair period – for exhibitors, visitors, and the museum industry as a whole.
