Frauke Maria Petry

Vita

Frauke Maria Petry studied Italian, visual history and cultural management in Berlin, Bologna and Düsseldorf. Following several years’ experience in cultural outreach and content marketing, she has been responsible for digital cultural outreach and inclusion at the Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum since 2022. Under her project leadership for ‘Experiencing Design Inclusively’, initiatives have included a tactile station for all, an accessible website and online collection, and an online game for schools. On 3 December 2026, the first permanent exhibition on the theme of ‘Design for All’ will open.

Shaping the future together, for everyone. A museum becomes accessible and digital

Amid the current tension between social diversity and a global shift to the right, the responsibility borne by cultural institutions is growing ever greater. How can museums rise to these challenges and thereby become places of encounter and exchange? Frauke Maria Petry from Die Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum explains how, as part of the ‘Experiencing Design Inclusively’ project, she has trialled various formats to bring Die Neue Sammlung closer to its goal of becoming a museum for everyone.
