Sealed, inert, tested: what keeps a collection safe inside a museum cabinet

Short description
Delta Designs develops museum display cabinets according to a clear principle: a cabinet should protect a collection from external risks without itself becoming a risk. A closed, well-sealed cabinet can mitigate six of the ten factors that cause damage, including pests, pollutants, fluctuating humidity and water. However, a tight seal also traps everything that the cabinet’s own materials give off. This pitch demonstrates how Delta Designs resolves both issues. The doors are reinforced and the seals are mechanically fastened, so no adhesive is used. The cabinets are tested for their air exchange rate and every material undergoes an Oddy test, as we cannot assume that a material is safe until we have tested it.
