Mutec Award

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Fri, 06 Nov

Short description

Just under 70 exhibition projects from Germany, Austria and Switzerland have entered the MUTEC Award 2026. An independent panel of experts will select the ten best projects from these entries and ultimately choose three winners. Which projects will impress with their innovation, sustainability, design, inclusion and new forms of engagement? Come and experience the ceremonial announcement of the winners at MUTEC 2026.

Description

For the second time, the MUTEC Award is recognising outstanding and forward-looking exhibition projects from German-speaking countries. The award is presented by Leipziger Messe in collaboration with ICOM Germany and VerA – Verband für Ausstellungsgestaltung e. V.

The response to this second edition has been overwhelming: nearly 70 projects from Germany, Austria and Switzerland were submitted for the MUTEC Award 2026. The spectrum ranges from special and permanent exhibitions to travelling exhibitions, demonstrating the diverse ways in which museums and exhibition venues are addressing current social, technological and design challenges today.

An independent panel of experts assesses the entries holistically. The focus is on innovation and creativity, sustainability, design quality, accessibility and inclusion, interactivity and participation, as well as an engaging approach.

The ten best projects will be exhibited at MUTEC 2026. From these, the jury will select the three prize-winners. At the awards ceremony in the MUTEC Forum, the secret will finally be revealed: which projects will take the top three places in 2026 and, in the jury’s view, provide particular impetus for the future of museum and exhibition practice?

The awards ceremony will take place on 6 November 2026 at 1.00 pm in the MUTEC Forum. The three winning projects will receive prize money of 2,000 euros, 1,500 euros and 1,000 euros.
