Smart, adaptable and unobtrusive: museum security with 3D LiDAR

Museums and galleries face a dilemma: valuable exhibits must be reliably protected, yet security technology must not detract from either the visitor experience or the appearance of the exhibition. Conventional systems reach their limits here: cameras and motion detectors generate many false alarms, and changing exhibition layouts require time-consuming re-installations.

Blickfeld’s smart 3D LiDAR sensors offer a new approach: a compact sensor maps the surroundings in three dimensions, thereby protecting multiple exhibits simultaneously without the need for physical barriers or alterations to the building structure. Security zones are configured intuitively via drag-and-drop and can be adjusted at any time via the software – without any building work whatsoever.

During the presentation, visitors will learn how 3D LiDAR enables both targeted protection of exhibits during the day and comprehensive intrusion detection at night – in a smart, unobtrusive way that can be fully integrated into existing alarm systems.
