Digital meets analogue: the symbiosis of space, atmosphere and interaction

10:00 AM - 10:30 AM Fri, 06 Nov

Short description

How do digital media and the physical experience of space come together to form a cohesive whole? Our talk takes a close look at real-world practice: drawing on specific projects and experiences, we will discuss which concepts have proved successful and which approaches have proved to be obstacles in practice.

Description

What are the typical pitfalls one encounters when developing holistic, interactive exhibitions?

The topic of interaction is explored: how deeply do visitors immerse themselves in the media, how much time do they spend with them, and where does the balance lie between complexity and simplicity?

Another key focus is on content: to what extent can information be reduced whilst still ensuring effective communication? And how do different levels of content harmonise in conjunction with interaction?

Finally, we’ll demonstrate how a detailed, vibrant design creates atmospheric worlds that inspire people emotionally and intuitively invite them to get involved.

We’ll present a practical case study showing what really worked and which approaches we would handle differently today.

This will be followed by an open discussion session for questions.
