Hands-On Museum Technology: Experience Innovation Live at MUTEC
Don't just look – give it a try! At the Action Area of MUTEC 2026, visitors can experience modern museum technology first-hand. Located at the heart of the exhibition hall, exhibitors will showcase innovative solutions for interpretation, interaction and collections management. From robots and tactile exhibits to AI applications, visitors can get involved, test new technologies and talk directly to the experts. The adjoining Pitch Area offers further insights into exciting products and projects.
How can robots guide visitors through an exhibition? How can museum objects be explored through touch alone? And what opportunities does artificial intelligence offer for visitor interaction?
Answers to these and many other questions can be found in MUTEC's new Action Area. Centrally located in Hall 4, it invites visitors not only to discover museum technology but also to try it out for themselves.
The range of exhibits demonstrates the many ways in which technological innovations can enhance museum work.
ROBOLUTIONS will present mobile robots designed for multilingual guided tours and interactive knowledge sharing. At Tactile Studio, visitors can explore a hidden object using only their sense of touch in an interactive tactile box. werk5 will demonstrate how inclusive interpretation can be achieved through different materials and surfaces with a tactile interpretation table.
Digital applications will also feature prominently. HÜTTINGER INTERACTIVE EXHIBITIONS will showcase its “DiMi” digital video microscope, revealing even the smallest details.
Informationsgesellschaft will take visitors on a visual journey through time with an AI-powered selfie station. The multimedia “MUSE” lounge chair by molitor produkte will provide immersive audio experiences. Meanwhile, Muse Stream will demonstrate how visitor feedback can be collected interactively and evaluated instantly.
ArchiBALD and ArtStore will also present practical solutions for collection storage and management. An interactive exhibit from the Rotkäppchen Experience World, presented by Rotkäppchen-Mumm, will invite visitors to participate.
And there is more to come. The Action Area is continuing to grow, with additional exhibits being added in the coming weeks. Some exhibitors are deliberately keeping their innovations under wraps until MUTEC, when they will reveal them in full.
There will be plenty to discover on site!
