Title: Optimal Lighting in Museums and Galleries

Moderator: Markus Helle, Chief Editor of HIGHLIGHT
Venue: MUTEC-Forum, Hall 2
Time: Saturday, 26.11. from 10:30 am – ca. 12:30 pm

The themed block on light in the MUTEC Forum illuminates the topic from the perspective of lighting designers, users and manufacturers.

Content: Museum lighting has become more varied due to LED light sources. Multimedia productions that can be accurately controlled and new, precise optics that make it possible to exactly define the type of lighting used are changing the way exhibitions are presented. Furthermore, the precise control of lighting intensities and spectrums also means conservational issues can be appropriately addressed.

About the Moderator: Since 1998, Markus Helle (1969) has been Chief Editor of the trade journal HIGHLIGHT which looks at light, illumination, and lighting planning in architecture. HIGHLIGHT's publishing team also organises the German Lighting Design Award, which honours lighting planners annually in various categories including museum lighting.

Participants in the Podium Discussion:
Light design: Gabriele von Kardorff - Geschäftsführerin der Kardorff Ingenieure Lichtplanung GmbH
Manufacturer: Ingolf Lau - Projekt Manager der ERCO Leuchten GmbH
User: Prof. Dr. Rudolf Hiller von Gaertringen - Kustos der Kunstsammlung und Leiter der Kustodie Universität Leipzig
